AzAA Committees

The purpose of each of the Committees is to assist the Board of Directors in decisions related to the specific topic of the committee.  If you have an interest in serving on any Committee(s), please contact Dennis Wiss, AzAA President.  The current standing committees are listed below:

Standing Committees
  • Ethics - (Chairman Jeff Tripp) Responsible for conducting investigations, under rules of procedures and practices as prescribed by the Board of Directors, into any complaint pertaining to breach of ethics by any member.
     
  • Nominating - (Chairman Joe Husband) Responsible for nominations of the members of the Board.
     
  • Membership -  (Chairwoman Deena Shaffer) Responsible for recruiting, screening and classification of new member applications.
     
  • Finance - (Chairman Matt Johnson) Responsible for the AzAA budget and means of revenue generation.
     
  • Public Relations - (Chairman Dennis Wiss) Responsible for public relations, including press releases and statements to the media.
     
  • By-laws - (Chairman Jeff Tripp)  Responsible for interpreting, reviewing, and recommending changes and/or amendments to the Association By-laws and Constitution.
     
  • Legislative - (Chairman Joe Husband)Responsible for providing the Association with details of pending state and federal legislation.  In addition, the Chairman shall advise the Board of Directors of recommendations for action concerning any particular item of legislation on which the Association should adopt a position.
     
  • Associate - (Chairman Greg Mead) Responsible for addressing the goals, needs, and concerns of the Associate membership.  The committee may be comprised of both Associate and Executive members.
     
  • Airport/Aviation Issues - (Co-Chair Dennis Wiss and Co-Chair Joe Husband) Responsible for identifying current issues affecting airport/aviation in the State of Arizona and bringing them to the attention of the Board of Directors and general membership.  The Committee will be chaired by the current President, who will advise the Board of Directors of any issue on which the Association should adopt a position.
     
  • Corporate - (Chairman Mark Koester) Responsible for addressing the goals, needs, and concerns of the Corporate membership.  The committee may be comprised of both Corporate and Executive members.
     
  • Promotions and Awards - (Chairman Ben Vardiman) Responsible for AzAA awards as well as the purchase and sale of AzAA promotional material.
     
  • Scholarship - (Chairwoman Jennifer Maples) Responsible for the application process and selection of AzAA scholarship recipients.
     
  • Conference - (Chairman Matt Johnson) Responsible for coordinating the second and fourth quarter meetings.

AdHoc Committee

  • Arizona Aviation Legislative Day - (Chairman Joe Husband) Responsible for coordinating the Arizona Aviation Day.
     
  • Website - (Chairman Scott Gray) Responsible for updating and maintaining the AzAA website.
     
  • Best Practices Manual - (Chairman Gary Mascaro) Responsible for coordinating the completion of the FAA/ADOT/AzAA Best Practices Manual.
     
  • Time and Place - (Chairman Matt Johnson) Responsible for recommending the future locations of the AzAA Conferences/Workshops.
     
  • Strategic Business Plan - (Chairman Jeff Tripp) Responsible for maintaining the AzAA Strategic Business Plan.
     
  • Professional Development - (Chairman Matt Johnson) Responsible for recommending future professional development opportunities and strategies to the AzAA Board.
