Airport Communications Dispatcher - City of Phoenix

RECRUITMENT DATES June 23, 2008 – July 11, 2008. SALARY $14.92 - $21.81 hourly / $31,034 - $45,365 annualized. EXPERIENCE Requires one year of experience operating multi-line telephone switchboard equipment and/or two-way radios. Multi-tasking and computer skills are essential in this position. A qualified candidate will have the ability to remain calm and exercise considerable judgment while making decisions in emergency situations and under heavy workloads. In addition, the ability to communicate clearly and professionally on a communications system (radio, phone) is necessary. Fluency in a secondary language is desirable. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted. DUTIES Dispatchers in the Sky Harbor Communications Center operate a computerized paging system, multi-line telephone switchboard system, two-way radio (multi-channel 800 MHz system), and other communication equipment in providing accurate and timely dissemination of information and messages to field units. Dispatched calls include aircraft emergencies, police, fire, and medical emergencies and other incidents affecting normal airport operations. They operate and monitor computerized alarm systems, lightning detection, advance fire warning, closed circuit TV, access control systems and other systems as approved and implemented by the Aviation Department. Dispatchers also update and track information on computerized and/or printed forms and display excellent customer service skills. Currently there are three vacancies in the Aviation Department. Training Project Developer - AviaEd

Primary role is to manage, coordinate and direct development, implementation, and facilitation of effective training programs for Clients.
