Scholarship Program

Each year, the Arizona Airports Association (AzAA) offers a number of scholarships to qualified members and students pursuing aviation education programs with the goal of enhancing their careers in the aviation industry. For additional information, please reference either the appropriate Policy Decision or the corresponding scholarship application.

 

Professional Accreditation and Certification Scholarship

 

Q      Policy Decision number: 09-10

Q      Scholarship: Funding to attend a accreditation or certification course

Q      Applications available: May

Q      Applications due: July 31

Q      Scholarship recipient selection: During the fall Board of Directors meeting

Q      Number of scholarships (budget permitting) available: One (1)

Q      Eligible AzAA membership classification: Executive

Q      Eligibility requirement:

o        Current member of AAAE

o        Currently enrolled in accreditation or certification program (A.A.E.; C.M. or A.C.E.).

o        Current AzAA member in good standing (for at least one year)

o        Gainfully employed full time at time of application and course attendance

Q      Value: Up to $2,000 annually

Q      Maximum lifetime value per recipient: $2,000

Q      Maximum lifetime scholarships per recipient: One (1)

Q      Additional information:

o        The applicant’s participation with AzAA weighs heavily in the selection process

o        Additional consideration would be given to employees of airports whose travel and training budget are limited

o        Reimbursement shall be based on the selected member submitting an acceptable accounting of their trip expenditures to the Board

 

 

Conference Scholarship

 

Q      Policy Decision number: 09-05

Q      Scholarship: Funding to attend a professional aviation association conference

Q      Applications available: May

Q      Applications due: July 31

Q      Scholarship recipient selection: During the fall Board of Directors meeting

Q      Number of scholarships (budget permitting) available: One (1)

Q      Eligible AzAA membership classification: Executive, Associate or Corporate

Q      Eligibility requirement:

o        Current AzAA member in good standing (for at least one year and during conference attendance and subsequent reimbursement)

o        Gainfully employed full time at time of application and course attendance

Q      Value: Up to $1,500 annually

Q      Maximum lifetime scholarships per recipient: Two (2)

Q      Additional information:

o        The applicant’s participation with AzAA weighs heavily in the selection process

o        Additional consideration would be given to employees of airports whose travel and training budget are limited

o        Reimbursement shall be based on the selected member submitting an acceptable accounting of their trip expenditures to the Board

o        Applicants who’s historical participation/attendance in the region has been low will be given priority consideration

 

 

AzAA Spring Conference Scholarship

 

Q      Policy Decision number: 09-14

Q      Scholarship: Funding to attend the AzAA Spring Conference

Q      Applications available: October

Q      Applications due: December 31

Q      Scholarship recipient selection: During the winter Board of Directors meeting

Q      Number of scholarships (budget permitting) available: One (1)

Q      Eligible AzAA membership classification: Executive, Associate or Corporate

Q      Eligibility requirement:

o        Current AzAA member in good standing (for at least one year and during conference attendance and subsequent reimbursement)

o        Gainfully employed full time at time of application and course attendance

Q      Value: Up to $1,000 annually

Q      Maximum lifetime scholarships per recipient: One (1)

Q      Additional information:

o        Those applicants whose historical attendance at the AzAA conferences has been low will be given priority consideration

Marty Rosness Student Scholarships

 

Q      Policy Decision number: 09-06

Q      Scholarship: Funding for college coursework

Q      Applications available: October

Q      Applications due: December 31

Q      Scholarship recipient selection: during the winter Board of Directors meeting

Q      Number of scholarships (budget permitting) available: two (2)

Q      Eligible AzAA membership classification: all but is not limited to AzAA members

Q      Eligibility requirement: Enrolled in an accredited aviation management program in the State of Arizona

Q      Value: $1,250-$2,500 annually

Q      Maximum lifetime value per recipient: $3,000

Q      Maximum lifetime scholarships per recipient: two (2)

Q      Additional information:

o        AzAA Spring Conference fee waived the year of the award

o        AzAA will provide one complimentary hotel room for the night of the banquet so the recipient can receive their award in person

 

 

Accreditation Stipend

 

Q      Policy Decision number: 09-04

Q      Eligible AzAA membership classification: Executive or Associate

Q      Eligibility requirement:

o        Obtained the Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) designation.

§         Stipend Value: $250

o        Obtained Certified Member (CM) or Airport Certified Employee (ACE) designations.

§         Stipend Value: $100

Q      Additional information:

o        Applicant must be a current member of AzAA in good standing for at least one (1) year prior to receiving the designation.

o        Members who have received the Professional Accreditation & Certification Scholarship to attend their certification course are not eligible for a stipend.

o        Letter requests for a stipend may be made at any time to the AzAA Scholarship Chair and are subject to approval by the Board of Directors.

Please be sure to thoroughly read and complete the application. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Important Note: All scholarship applications must be received prior to attendance at a conference or program. Scholarship recipients have one year from award date to attend the qualified course or conference. If the recipient does not attend the qualified course or conference during that time frame, the scholarship is no longer valid.
